COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
MASTER ELDERBERRY
You’ll learn why and how Master Elderberry was formulated, including the traditional uses of each herb, how they layer together, and what makes them work well as a blend. You’ll receive detailed herb monographs covering key characteristics and extraction methods, then explore how ACV, vodka, and glycerine work as different extraction bases, why certain herbs may benefit from different approaches, and how your choice of base affects the finished preparation. We’ll cover herb-to-liquid ratios, dry vs. fresh herbs, and different forms of plant material including cut, sifted, whole herbs and flowers, and powders. You’ll have the materials to make your own Master Elderberry while learning the process of preparation, agitation, observation, straining, bottling, labeling, and storage. We’ll also cover troubleshooting and batch consistency. You’ll walk away not just knowing how to make Master Elderberry, but understanding foundational extraction principles you can apply to other preparations in your home apothecary.
OIL OF OREGANO
You’ll learn why oregano has become such a popular herbal preparation and how to create your own oregano-infused oil at home. You’ll receive an oregano monograph and learn what an herbal infused oil actually is, how herbs interact with oil during the infusion process, and how to choose your herb-to-oil ratio and infusion method. You’ll learn how to prepare, infuse, strain, bottle, label, and store your finished oil, along with how to troubleshoot common issues such as moisture, spoilage, sediment, oil absorption, straining, and batch consistency. We’ll also explore the important difference between an oregano-infused herbal oil and oregano essential oil, including why they are not interchangeable. You’ll walk away with practical principles of herbal oil making that you can apply to many other infused oils and preparations in your home apothecary.
